What Is VelaSmoothVelaSmooth is a very recent advancement proven to reduce the appearance of cellulite. It safely recontours the body's surface, smoothening out unsightly cellulite.
Approximately 80% of women suffer from cellulite today. Cellulite is not a sign of obesity or a weight problem. Even very lean, fit women can have patches of "hard' cellulite that attaches directly to the muscle. Cellulite is prevalent in women because their fat cells reside closer to the surface. Heredity and insufficient water intake can contribute to cellulite development.
The VelaSmooth treatment involves a new technology called elos (short for electro-optical synergy) which uses a combination of radio frequency waves, a laser, tissue mobilization and suction. This method has been proven to safely and effectively reduce cellulite while also reducing body weight and circumferential size of the stomach, abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, and upper arms.
A non-invasive and non-surgical procedure, VelaSmooth can help you feel confident about your body.
How Does VelaSmooth Work
VelaSmooth is the first combined-energy technology, which uses bi-polar radio frequency and light, while also offering a deep tissue massage and suction. This procedure breaks up the fat and mobilizes the water from tissues to help recontour the skin's surface.
Conducted radio frequency increases oxygen intracellular diffusion by heating the adipose tissue (responsible for cellulite). This causes an increase in metabolism of stored energy, thereby causing the fat to shrink. The infrared light increases elasticity of the skin, while also heating up the subcutaneous fat. The skin is protected from damage at all times. A gentle vacuum suction and rotating electrodes facilitate tissue mobilization, creating a smooth contour. The vacuum or suction helps dilate blood vessels, while improving circulation. This combination of energy will effectively reduce cellulite in the treatment areas over the course of a few treatments.
Am I a Candidate
If you are interested in improving the appearance of cellulite on your upper arms, abdomen, hips, buttocks or thighs, VelaSmooth may be right for you.
The best candidates for VelaSmooth treatments are women with a 20-30% BMI (Body Mass Index) who are in good health and practice good health habits. Many patients outside of this range also report good results.
You are NOT a candidate for this procedure, if:
- you have superficial metal or conductive implants, rods, plates or pins in the treatment area
- you are a hernia patient, and want this procedure done on your abdomen
- you are pregnant
How Long Does Treatment Take
Treatment takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes, and is a completely non-invasive, no downtime procedure. You may return to work or resume other activities following treatment.
Does It Hurt
The procedure does not hurt at all. It is actually a warm, massaging sensation. At times, you may feel a mild pinching sensation, but it is not painful. Patients have compared the feeling of the treatment to the sensation of finishing an intense workout or a deep tissue massage.
What Are the Side Effects
The treatment area may appear flushed or pink temporarily from the heat. Bruising, while uncommon, is possible, but usually disappears within 1-2 weeks.
What Results Should I Expect and For How Long
The VelaSmooth process is very effective at reducing cellulite. Generally, 12-16 sessions are required over a 6-8 week period, resulting in 2 treatments per week. After the initial sessions, you will need to have maintenance treatments every 1 to 2 months, or as needed.
Most patients report an improvement in the appearance of their skin and a reduction of cellulite after just 5 to 6 treatments. Some patients may not see improvement until half way through their program, or after the eighth treatment.
Although VelaSmooth is not a weight loss tool, many patients look and feel as though they've lost weight because their bodies are better proportioned than before. A recent study by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery found that patients who completed the VelaSmooth protocol had an average reduction of 2.0 cm to 4.0 cm in the circumference of their thigh,1.0 cm to 5.5 cm in the abdominal area, and 2.0 cm to 5.7 cm in the circumference of their hips. Although this may not occur in all patients, some patients do report this additional benefit of the treatment.
Also to note, doctors across North America reported that 100% of their patients using the VelaSmooth saw some improvement in the appearance of their cellulite. As well, patients have reported improved circulation, a decrease in muscle aches and pains and overall better health. Skin tightening, or firming of looser skin, is another benefit many patients enjoy.
It is important to remember that a healthy diet and exercise plan are an important part of maintaining your new body contour.
